
Managing director at Kumpulan Parabena Sdn. Bhd., Raziah Geneid is a seasoned business executive and advocate of women's rights in Malaysia. Datuk Geneid is a dynamic leader, skilled at corporate strategizing and large scale project management. Her efforts in the business world has had a direct impact on the local infrastructure through several community enhancing projects in the Sarawak region. Datuk Geneid's involvement with tourism has resulted in the first World Heritage listing for Malaysia. Raziah Geneid also wholeheartedly supports the efforts of The National Association of Women Entrepreneurs in Malaysia (NAWEM) in bringing gender equality to the country.
Education and Positions Held
After studying towards a business diploma at the Institute Technology MARA, Raziah Geneid became licensed as company secretary, an achievement made at the Pejabat Penaftar Syarikat. Besides having a keen interest in business, she also became interested in development and construction and started working in the industry. After several years Raziah Geneid now holds several prominent positions in the industry. She is the executive director of the Royal Mulu Resort, the executive chairman of the Miri Marriot Resort and Spa, the chairman of Kumpulan Construction Sdn. Bhd. and the chairman of the first convention centre in Borneo. For over 30 years Datuk Geneid has made significant contributions to the development and construction industry in Malaysia and has achieved phenomenal success.
Recognition and Accomplishments
The untiring contributions to the construction and development industry in Malaysia led to Raziah Geneid (formerly Raziah Mahmud) receiving the NAWEM award "Most Innovative Woman of the Year in Construction and Property" in the year 2004. Datuk Geneid's efforts in creating cultural, economic and social ties between Poland and Malaysia in her position as Honorary Consul representing Poland in Malaysia, was recognized with being given the “The Knights Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland” award. Projects that she was involved in included developing two higher education institutes and 1000 affordable housing units for people of townships called Taman Jelita and Taman Tunku. Datuk Geneid also works extensively in Bintulu. Furthermore, Raziah Geneid was influential in the construction of the Kampung Senari Kuching Deepwater Port, the Sarawak Outdoor Stadium as well as the Kuching City Central Waste Water Treatment Works. Her unrelenting efforts to boost tourism in alliance with the local government resulted in Gunung Mulu National Park, home to the Royal Mulu Resort, to achieve status as a major eco-tourism destination on top of being the only World Heritage Site in Malaysia. Another accomplishment in the tourism sector is upgrading the Rihga Royal Hotel Miri to being the Miri Marriot Resort and Spa.
Personal Life
A resident of Kuching in the Sarawak region of Malaysia, Raziah Geneid (née Raziah Mahmud) is a devoted wife and mother of seven children. She is an avid traveller, enjoying several trips each year for business reasons and for personal enjoyment. To relax, Datuk Geneid enjoys dancing and doing exercises. She is also known as a talented singer.
